Cut 9 strips of paper. Use sturdy paper like colored cardstock or textured craft paper. You will need 9 strips of paper in four different lengths. Each strip of paper should be 5 cm wide.

  • Three strips of paper 25 cm long.
  • Two strips of paper 32 cm long.
  • Two strips of paper 40 cm long.
  • Two strips of paper 50 cm long.

Stack the strips of paper on top of each other and secure the pin at one end in the correct order. The strips of paper must be arranged in a certain order to be able to bend into a heart.

  • Arrange the four strips of paper on top of each other in order from shortest to longest. The longest strip will be at the bottom and the shortest band will be at the top.

  • Turn the 4 folded strips of paper upside down so that the longest is on top. Then place a 25cm strip of paper on top of the 50cm strip to make a place to hang the string in the center of the heart.

  • Continue to stack the remaining strips of paper on top in order from longest to shortest until you run out of paper. That is, you will put the longest strip of paper on top of the paper used to thread the sling just now, followed by the shorter strips of paper. The last strip of paper to be stacked will again be the shortest.

Pin the paper strips in place. Arrange the ends of the paper so that they are really equal. Pin that end to secure the strips of paper together.

Bend each strip of paper to the bottom. Holding the strips of paper near where you are stapling, bend the strips of paper downwards. Start bending the shortest strips of paper on either side first, then curl each remaining strip in the same direction in turn.

  • Bend four strips of paper on the right side one at a time, starting with the shortest and ending at the longest. Bend them down towards the right side of the pin.
  • Bend the remaining four strips of paper to the left side.
  • Leave the strip in the middle and hold the rest of the strips with your thumb and index finger at the end of the heart.

Pin the heart end. Thus, the paper strips are kept in the same position as curled. You can staple as many times as you want, as long as the strips of paper can be secured.

  • You may need to add more pins along the middle to create the heart shape. Those staples will come out, so decide whether to add more staples or not.

Punch a hole in the paper strip used to hang the heart. Use a puncher to punch a small hole in the top of the strip of paper on top of the heart.

  • Make a hole at the top of the paper strip, in the middle and about 2.5 cm from the top edge.

Thread a string through the hole. Use a parachute cord, ribbon, thread, or hemp rope to thread it through the hole and tie it into a loop. You can hang this decorative heart with that loop of wire.

Make a string of paper hearts to have a row of hearts with just one sheet of paper. The paper heart string will consist of a series of identical heart shapes joined together. This is very easy to do and is also a craft activity that is great for children. [2] X Research Source

Take out a piece of paper. You can use any size paper, but it works best for standard lettering paper (22 x 28 cm) or A4 size so that two heart strings can be created. Choose your favorite color.

  • Fold and unfold the paper vertically. Cut along the crease to divide the paper into two equal halves.

  • Be very careful and let young children use safe, round-headed scissors.
  • You only need half a piece of paper to make a heart string. However, if you want, you can use the other half to make one more sequence.

Fold the paper up and down into equal folds. Start from the short edge of the paper, fold the bottom edge of the paper to the back, then hold the fold back to the front to form a fold about 3cm wide.

  • You can optionally adjust the width of these folds. For letter size paper, the fold width as above will create about 4 continuous hearts. The bigger the fold, the fewer hearts you can make.
  • Repeat the above step again.

Draw half a heart shape on the paper. The line in the center of the heart is the crease line of the top paper. The curved outline of the heart will be drawn slightly beyond the edge of the paper opposite the crease line.

  • In other words, the heart will be drawn slightly missing on the side. If you draw enough and cut out, the hearts will come apart. Therefore, do not draw a curved border that fits inside the paper.

Cut along the contour just drawn. Use a pair of sharp scissors to cut out half a heart shape. When cutting, keep the folds straight.

  • Keep the two straight edges on either side of the heart. If you try to round off the part next to the heart, you will break the entire sequence of shapes.
  • You can also cut out a small portion of the inside of the hearts. This will create empty cells in the heart, just like when you cut a snowflake. Make sure this doesn’t change the shape of the heart.
  • Always be careful when using scissors. Do not cut your hands and use only child-safe scissors.

Trim off the excess. Usually, there will be a little extra paper on the last heart.

Decorate to your liking. You can use oil paint, emulsion, stickers, imprints or whatever you like.

  • If you’ve made holes in the hearts, you can glue tissue paper or cellophane to the back for a stained glass-like effect.
  • For a longer heart string, you can use a longer piece of paper, or tie the heart strings together with tape or string.

Draw half a heart on the folded piece of paper, the center line of the heart is the crease line of the paper. If you are confident with your hand flower, you can draw a heart shape yourself without a template. If not, find a heart pattern that you can draw along.

  • You can use a cake mold or a heart-shaped paperweight as a template, or you can print a heart shape and cut it out to use as a template.

Cut out the heart. Cut along the contour you just drew and unfold the paper for a symmetrical heart shape.
Use the heart you just cut out to make another heart with the remaining paper. Fold the heart in half again and use it to draw a similar shape on the other piece of paper. Cut out the second heart. You will have two identical hearts.

Poke each hole evenly spaced along the contour. Use a large sewing needle to poke small, evenly spaced holes along the edge of the heart. If young children do this, have them use a round-tipped needle.

  • You can also use a paper punch or the pointed end of a compass instead of a sewing needle.
  • Make sure that both hearts are pierced in the same position.

Sew thread through the poked holes all the way to ¾ of the heart shape. Thread a thread into the needle and start sewing the two hearts together, looping the stitches up and down. Sew up to ¾ of the heart and leave room for stuffing.

  • Use large thread or thread 2 to 3 threads together.
  • Start a stitch pointing from the bottom to the top.
  • Don’t stretch the thread all the way through the first hole. Instead, leave about 7 to 8 cm of excess thread at the first stitch.
  • You can apply border stitches. It will create a very nice border as shown in the picture. To make the hem stitch, you’ll poke the needle through the first hole through the two layers of the shape. Before pulling out the thread, thread the needle through the loop at the edge of the heart. Pull the thread tight and you’ve got a hem stitch.

Making a Heart in a Basket Style

Hang a heart basket for decoration or use as a small basket for candy. These pretty little hearts also function as a basket. You can hang them on the tree and put some candy in it as a gift. [4] X Research Sources
Take out two sheets of paper. You should choose two different colors to create an eye-catching heart. The traditional colors are still white and red, but you can combine any colors you like. Choose a medium thickness paper.

  • Paper is too thick, it will be difficult to knit two shapes together.
  • Paper too thin will not be able to hold the contents inside. [5] X Research Sources
Cut the paper to the size you want. If you’re using letterhead or A4 paper, you can fold the paper in half horizontally. Cut a line from the midpoint of the fold to the midpoint of the opposite edge of the paper to divide the piece of paper in half. You will use a rectangular piece of paper of each color.

  • The size of the paper depends on your choice, it will affect the size of the heart you create.
  • Fold two pieces of paper in half.
Place one folded piece of paper on top of it perpendicular to the other. The top piece will be vertical and the bottom piece will be horizontal. The two left-hand sides will have to fit together so that the “wing” of the piece of paper under it sticks out to the right. Use a pencil to draw a faint line on the bottom piece of paper along the vertical edge of the top piece of paper.
Place two overlapping rectangles, the crease lines should also coincide. The two pieces of paper must face the same direction. Let the piece with the pencil line up for easy viewing.
Draw faint lines from the bottom (fold) of the piece of paper to the pencil line you just drew. Draw several lines along the piece of paper until it touches the lead line just now. The piece of paper will be divided into strips of paper along its length. Cut both pieces of paper along these lines.

  • Cut strips of paper with a width of at least 1 cm, otherwise they are very easy to tear. It doesn’t matter the size and number of strips, it’s up to you. However, keep in mind that the size and number of strips will affect the difficulty of knitting the paper. For children, you should only cut up to 3 strips of paper.
Cut a curved line at the top of the piece of paper. While the two pieces of paper are still overlapping, cut the curve where there are no strips of paper. These curves will form the curve in the heart shape. They will look like half ovals.
Continue to place two pieces of paper at right angles to each other. Place one piece horizontally and one piece vertically. The rounded end of the vertical piece will face up, the rounded end of the other piece will point to the right.

  • The two crease lines will form a 90-degree angle on the left-hand side.

Knit the strips of paper together. This heart knit will be different from the usual crochet, where you’ll be knitting strips of paper “through” and “around” each other, instead of “up” and “down”.

  • Take the top strip of the horizontal piece of paper and knit it through the first strip of the vertical piece of paper. “Through” means it will get between two layers of paper.
  • Continue holding that top strip of paper and loop it around the second strip of the vertical piece of paper. “Over” means that the two layers of paper will be above and below the second strip of paper.
  • Continue knitting the top strip of the horizontal piece of paper into the strips of the vertical piece of paper. The paper strip of the horizontal piece of paper will be knitted into all the vertical paper strips.
  • Take the first strip (to the right) of the vertical piece of paper and knit it into the strips of the horizontal piece of paper. Because the first vertical strip is already knitted around the first horizontal strip, you simply knit it through the second horizontal strip, and so on until you run out of paper.
  • Do the same with the remaining strips of paper until all the vertical and horizontal strips of paper are knitted. [6] X Research Sources
Open the basket. Once the strips of paper have been knitted together, you will have a basket heart. Open it by inserting your finger between the two layers of paper. You can put candies or any pretty things you like in it.
  • Add a handle or a lanyard. Cut a long piece of paper of the same color to the desired length to make the handle. Use tape or staples to attach it to the inside of the heart. [7] X Research Sources

    • Or you can punch a hole in the center of the top of the heart and thread a ribbon or hemp rope through. Tie a knot at both ends of the string to hang the heart.
    • If you’re punching holes, you can add a small piercing to make the heart look better, although this is not necessary.
  • Advice

    • There are many ways to make paper hearts. You can make a symmetrical heart, fold money into a heart shape, make a floating heart card, or make a heart with a stained glass effect.
    • You can fold the heart according to the origami method. Try making a simple heart first, or a heart with slightly complicated folds on the front, a heart with pockets on the front, a heart with wings, and many more hearts. .

    Warning

    • Keep sharp tools out of reach of children. Scissors and needles must be round-ended so that children do not get injured when using them. Also, let an adult do the cutting and needlework for the children.
